Saxophobia
Saxophobia offers a rare and unique glimpse at some
of the most unusual saxophones ever manufactured,
and at the classic melodies associated with this
extraordinary musical instrument. Set in a jazzcombo
format, Saxophobia pays tribute to some of the great jazz legends who popularized the instrument and contributed to the development of America’s indigenous art form. Saxophobia brings to the stage a
“Who’s Who” of sax gone wild! Audience members
will see and hear a sopranino—the smallest saxophone
in the world; a mammoth six-and-one-half-foot
contrabass sax; and virtually everything in between.

Holiday Concert 2007
Swing in the season with popular vocalists Joey Lessa and Regina Ford, together
with dynamic band leader Tom Patrick and Big Band Express as they get the
holidays off to a musical start. The exciting program will
highlight seasonal songs and plenty of your favorite big band sounds performed by
Big Band Express, southern Arizona’s most accomplished big band. Another feature
of the concert will be several arrangements written especially for Lessa and Ford.
Big Band Express, founded in 1994, is a 16-piece big band made up of Tucson jazz professionals with many years of experience in big bands throughout the United States. Big Band Express has been featured at such functions as New Year’s Eve at the Tucson Convention Center and Saddlebrooke, the Oro Valley Jazz Festival, the Tubac Arts Festival, the Silver & Turquoise Ball, and the Ak- Chin Casino. They have played for conventions at all of the Tucson area hotels, at the Desert Diamond Casino, and at the Gaslight Theatre in Tucson. Join the fun at West Center and expect laughs, great music and a warm introduction to the festive season.
