Thursday: Kartchner Caverns and Amerind Foundation
Tour – “The Big Room”
Join us for this unique opportunity to tour “The
Big Room” at Kartchner Caverns State Park. This
cave has absolutely phenomenal cave formations!
The limestone cave is wet and living and its calcium
carbonate features continue to grow. The Big Room
is three times the size of Kartchner's Rotunda
and Throne Rooms! The tour takes us onto the cave
floor and it requires a 1/2 mile walk. We will
enjoy a delightful picnic lunch while at the park.
We then travel to Texas Canyon for a self guided
visit at the Amerind Foundation Museum. Founded
in 1937, the Amerind is a private, non-profit
anthropological and archaeological museum and
research center and houses one of the finest private
collections of Native American art and artifacts
in the country. Fee for GVR members is $97 and
bring a guest for $102. Price includes roundtrip
transportation, picnic lunch, Big Room tour ticket,
museum admission, bus refreshments, tour director
