Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum and Tohono Chul Park
Friday, January 4 – CR# 43000
Come with us to two of Tucson’s premier attractions. The Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, on the west edge of Tucson, is ranked as one of the Top 10 Museums in the country. With over 1200 types of plants and 230 animal species, you can’t see it all in one day, but you may see desert bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, mountain lions, otters, raptors, hummingbirds and more! We’ll serve lunch, visit the aquarium and gift shop/bookstore before we head to Tohono Chul Park, set on 49 acres in northern Tucson. It was dedicated in 1985, after Richard and Jean Wilson pledged in 1966 that they would preserve the desert beauty surrounding their house. We will begin with a docent led tour, then allow free time to further explore the eleven distinct gardens and nature trail. Art is displayed as well throughout the park, both indoors and outside. Join us to learn more about the beauty and energy of this beautiful desert where we live! Saturday, February 9 – CR# 43003
Join us for a day of exploring in Tucson! A Hiking Day at Fort Bowie National Historical Monument & Chiricahua National Park Echo Canyon Grottoes
Thursday, February 28 – CR# 43004
Note: Hikers must be able to hike three miles at a moderate pace without stress. Footing will be uneven with rocky stretches the trails (NO walkers or canes). We are far from assistance and in a no-service cell phone area. We supply water before and after the hikes, but recommend bringing an additional one quart minimum for the hikes. Pleasurebent Tours is pleased to present two new moderate hiking opportunities! First, Fort Bowie National Historical Monument, a 1.3 mile (each way) moderate hike with a 200-ft elevation gain. We will ride to the trailhead by motorcoach, hike to the historical site past the Post Cemetery, a replica Chiricahua Apache camp and iconic Apache Springs. At the visitor center, listen to a presentation by the Park Ranger(s), then explore the ruins. We will hike back the way we came, then drive to the top of Chiricahua National Monument and enjoy a tasty lunch from Corner Bakery. We will take our second hike to the Grottoes in Echo Canyon (1.0 mile, rated easy by the National Park service). This is the most moderate way to hike into the amazing rock formations of this park. On our way home, we will stop for a special treat at Apple Annie’s Country Store in Willcox. Fee includes transportation via mini-motorcoach, admissions, box lunch, dessert, bus refreshments, services of a tour director and driver tip. Bus departs from the WEST end of the Desert Hills UPPER parking lot at 7:15am and returns at 6:15pm. Deadline to purchase and no refunds after 2/21/19.

Historical Bisbee Tour
Tuesday, April 2 – CR# 43014
The charming and historic city of Bisbee, Arizona, is a wonderful place to visit. We will begin our day with a view of the Lavender Pit, the eventual successor to the underground shafts honeycombing the hills above it. This was one of the richest copper finds in the US mining history. We’ll then enjoy a docent presentation and self-guided tour of the Bisbee Mining and Historical Museum, followed by the opportunity for free time to explore the Copper Queen Hotel and the unique galleries and antique shops. After lunch at Bisbee’s Table on Main Street, we will board jeeps to tour the back streets of Bisbee, which boasted a population of 25,000 in the early 1900’s. Did you know that the hodge-podge of streets, alleys and canyons made Bisbee one of the few spots, then and now, without door-to-door mail service for all residents? Come explore Bisbee with us! Note: the sidewalks of Bisbee can be uneven, with sidewalks slopes and unexpected “toe-catchers.” This is a tough environment for using a walker. Jeeps can be a tight fit and utilize narrow, sometimes rough streets. Fee includes: roundtrip transportation via coach, lunch, Lavender Jeep Tour, museum admission, bus refreshments, services of a tour director and driver tip. Bus departs from the WEST end of the Desert Hills UPPER parking lot at 7:45am and returns at 6:00pm. Deadline to purchase and no refunds after 3/19/19.

Fiddler on the Roof – Broadway in Tucson @ Centennial Hall
Sunday, April 14 – CR# 43015
Join us for Fiddler on the Roof, one of the all-time great musicals, which won NINE Tony Awards when it debuted in 1965. Fiddler then followed that with three Oscars, including Best Original Song Score (John Williams)! We will travel first to a delicious lunch at Café a la C’Art, next to the Tucson Museum of Contemporary Art, before taking our seats at this iconic show Just the mention of the songs will get your toes tapping – “Tradition,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and “If I Were A Rich Man” fill the theater, as a poor milkman tries through a matchmaker to find the best husbands for his five daughters. How he balances this earthly advice with his faith creates one of Broadway’s “richest” musicals. Bus departs from the WEST end of the Desert Hills UPPER parking lot at 10:15am and returns at 4:30pm. Deadline to purchase and no refunds after 3/14/19.
