Trips and Tours

Our tours are organized and escorted by Pleasurebent Tours of Tucson. Green Valley Recreation has had a long term and very positive relationship with Pleasurebent Tours. Our tours leave from Desert Hills Social Center upper parking lot at the advertised time. The tours can be purchased at any office or online.

The tour fee includes motor coach transportation, tour director, admissions, advertised meal (tax and tip) and driver tip. Because of the necessity of the tour company to pre-arrange and pre-pay for bus accommodations, admission tickets and meals, no refunds will be issued after the cancellation date stated on the reservation confirmation. All trips are open to GVR Members and their guests.

Be sure to pick up a course catalog and check out all of the tours!

Please note the last date for cancellation of a trip. Because of contractual commitments, refunds can not be made after the cancellation date.

Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens and the Eddie Basha Collection

Wednesday, November 28 – CR# 42920

Today we take in a unique area of the Phoenix Valley and make a special visit to the Phoenix Botanical Garden, which has world’s finest collection of arid-land plants in a unique outdoor setting. The Garden has more than 50,000 desert plants on display throughout five thematic trails that illustrate topics such as conservation, desert living, plants and people of the Sonoran Desert and desert wildflowers. After a no-host lunch at the Tempe Marketplace, we will then travel to Chandler to tour the world-famous Eddie Basha Collection of Western American and American Indian Art. This is one of the world’s largest private collections, with famous Western artists and extensive Native American artists and artifacts. This 11,000-square-foot gallery is located at the company headquarters — at the site of the first Basha’s store in south Chandler. Here about 3,000 pieces, between the paintings, the drawings, the watercolors, the sculptures, the Katsina carvings, the jewelry collection, the miniature pottery, the seed pot collection, the gun collection. In addition, there are also about 400 handmade baskets from Southwestern indigenous peoples, many made between the late 1800s to the early 20th century. Fee includes transportation, admissions, lunch (tax and tip) services of a tour director, bus refreshments, and driver tip. A Holiday Ramble in Phoenix

Join us for a holiday adventure in Phoenix to locations you may not know very well. Given the overactive fire seasons in the west the past few years, it is fitting to pay tribute to the firefighters of our nation. We will first visit the Hall of Flame Museum, where they have firefighting equipment dating from 1725 to the present—a Wildland Firefighting Gallery and National Firefighting Hall of Heroes highlight of this museum. We will then head to the Biltmore area for a delicious lunch at The Capital Grille, followed by a self-guided stroll through the Arizona Biltmore dressed in its holiday finest! We will cap our day by visiting the fabulous Festival of Lights along Chandler Blvd. (PleasureBent has had to insert a replacement event, sorry for any inconvenience.) Bring your cameras for a unique holiday excursion! Fee includes transportation, museum admission, lunch (tax and tip), services of a tour director, bus refreshments, and driver tip. Barleen’s Arizona Opry Show

Join us for terrific music and food at Barleen’s Arizona Opry – a perfect holiday combination. For over 30 years, the Barleen family has fed and entertained folks in their 500-seat Apache junction dinner theatre. We will enjoy a hearty, home cooked lunch (savory chicken and beef entrees) and then a Grand Ole Opry style show. Some of your favorite holiday tunes will fill the theatre along with musical variety, side-splitting comedy, yodeling and just plain fun. Their entertainment will get you in the mood for the upcoming festive season! Come join us and enjoy a trip to the Arizona Opry!
