Trips and Tours

Our tours are organized and escorted by Pleasurebent Tours of Tucson. Green Valley Recreation has had a long term and very positive relationship with Pleasurebent Tours. Our tours leave from Desert Hills Social Center upper parking lot at the advertised time. The tours can be purchased at any office or online.

The tour fee includes motor coach transportation, tour director, admissions, advertised meal (tax and tip) and driver tip. Because of the necessity of the tour company to pre-arrange and pre-pay for bus accommodations, admission tickets and meals, no refunds will be issued after the cancellation date stated on the reservation confirmation. All trips are open to GVR Members and their guests.

Be sure to pick up a course catalog and check out all of the tours!

Please note the last date for cancellation of a trip. Because of contractual commitments, refunds can not be made after the cancellation date.

Hummingbirds & Arizona History

Join Pleasurebent Tours and our expert birding guide as we explore Southern Arizona. We start the day at the Paton Center for Hummingbirds, in Patagonia. Visitors come from around the world to observe hummingbirds in a backyard made world-famous among birders by Wally and Marion Paton. Afterwards we visit The Empire Ranch, established in the 1860’s as a homestead ranch of 160 acres. After a tasty box lunch, we will travel to Fairbank, a ghost town along the San Pedro River established in 1881 which was so strategically located among the mines and forts and communities in the Arizona territory that it grew to 15,000 people before being slowly abandoned over decades in the 1900’s. We’ll end our day at Murray Springs Clovis Site near Sierra Vista – one of the Smithsonian’s ‘Great Clovis Sites’ – discovered in 1966 and excavated for four years. Prehistoric Paleo-Indians hunted large mammals here, such as mammoth, bison and early relatives of horses and camels. These people became known by their advance fluted spear points first found near Clovis, N.M. Fee includes transportation, admissions, lunch, tour director, bus refreshments, and driver tip.
