Racket and paddle sports are very popular at GVR!

Tennis, table tennis, pickleball and racquetball clubs provide opportunities for over 1300 members to take skill-building courses, enjoy round-robin play, and meet like-minded folks. However, all members are welcome to use the racket and paddle sports facilities—not just club members.

All members are welcome to use the tennis facilities. No club membership required. However, club play may take priority during certain hours. Courts are subject to reservation through a reservation system operated by the GVR Tennis Club. Non club members may purchase access to the reservation system for a nominal annual fee, or can check court availability and play between reservations.

GVR’s seventeen tennis courts are open seven days a week, from 6:00am to dusk. In two locations, the courts are lighted and remain open until 8:45pm.

Canoa Hills: 2 courts

Desert Hills: 4 courts

East Center: 2 courts

Las Campanas: 2 courts

Madera Vista: 1 court (Lighted, open until 8:45pm)

West Center: 6 courts (Lighted, open until 8:45pm)

The facilities at West Center include a ramada, kitchenette, restrooms, and barbecues.

The GVR Tennis Club has 472 members. The club includes five leagues and hosts tournaments and socials.

GVR Pickleball Club

The GVR Pickleball Club has over 1,100 members and plays on 36 pickleball courts at three locations: GVR Pickleball Center, East Center, and Canoa Ranch. The club manages scheduled play, classes, and court reservations on a daily basis year-around for its club members, as well as GVR members.

GVR members that are not club members have access to courts through court reservations and open play time. Below is a brief summary on how to play pickleball, whether you are a beginner or have played a little in the past or have family or friends who want to try it out.

Note: Court shoes designed for outdoor courts (non-marking) are required.

East Center (8 courts) 6am–8:45pm

Interested in taking friends or family to the courts to simply hit the ball back and forth without needing rules? Court 1 at the East Center is available from 6–8pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for this specific purpose.

Casual play guidelines:

  • Play involves hitting the ball back and forth with rules and scoring optional.
  • Ideal for trying the sport or playing casually with friends and family, or for rehabilitation.
  • Members may drop in for casual play. If others are waiting, invite them to join for casual, non-competitive play.

To reserve a casual play court:

  • Use this link: Pickleball | Green Valley Recreation Pickleball Club, to visit the GVR Pickleball Club’s website.
  • Click on the navigation button labeled: Non-Club Mmbr Casual Play Court Resv.
  • Then follow the prompts for a very simple way to reserve Court 1 for casual play, as well as other schedule information for the East Center.

Pickleball paddles will be available at the East Center courts, if needed.

Canoa Ranch (4 courts) 7am–dusk

Open play occurs here every day of the week. Open play is for all skill levels from beginners to more advanced players.

Open play process:

  • Place your paddle in the ‘paddle queue’ outside the fence of Court 1.
  • When a court is available, the next four players in the ‘paddle queue’ take the court.
  • Each group of four players finishes one game and then leaves the court for the next four players.
  • If there are no paddles in the ‘paddle queue’, then players may continue to play on the court.
GVR Pickleball Center (24 courts) 6am–dusk

Check the court schedule on the club website, as there is both open play and court reservations at the GVR Pickleball Center. Click this link to the club’s website to see the court schedules: Pickleball | Green Valley Recreation Pickleball Club.
