Facilities Closures

MAINTENANCE CLOSURES 

  • The West Center lobby is closed for carpet removal and installation from August 19-29. Please use alternate exterior doors to access the auditorium and Room 2.

  • The East Center billiards room is closed for carpet removal and installation from August 31 – September 4.

  • The Canoa Hills Bocce courts are closed for painting from September 3-4.

  • The Canoa Ranch lobby and RSS office are closed for flooring replacement from September 8-11. Please use the pool deck gate to enter the building.
  • The Desert Hills sauna is closed for flooring replacement from September 10-11.
  • The Box Office at West Center is closed for lobby renovations. All member business, from new memberships to course registrations, will be conducted at the Administrative Offices through most of the summer. In September, all member business will shift to West Center, in the newly renovated lobby.
  • The Abrego South pool, spa, and shower room buildings are closed. Shuffleboard, horseshoes, and sand volleyball are open and restrooms are available via the rec room. Drop-in users should anticipate traffic through the rec room.
  • The GVR Lapidary & Silversmith Club is making some updates. The West Center Lapidary room is closed for renovations, and the Desert Hills Lapidary is closed to the public as part of the club consolidation project. You can find all the club’s beautiful, hand-made jewelry for sale at the East Center location, 7 S. Abrego Drive. Thank you for your patience and support during this transition.

ABREGO SOUTH POOL UPDATE
June 24, 2026: The GVR Board of Directors awarded the design-build contract for the Abrego South pool to Durazo Construction.  Work will begin sometime in September and should be completed by April 2027. 

Lightning and Pool Closures

GVR closes pools and clears pool decks whenever lightning is detected within five miles. The information can be found in the Corporate Policy Manual (CPM):

1.2.8 Special Uses, E. GVR Pool Management Policies

  • GVR pools shall operate in compliance with Pima County Code Title 8, Chapter 8.322, Swimming Pool and Spas,” and any other applicable Pima County regulations.
  • GVR staff has authority to close a swimming pool or spa if they determine that its operation and use presents danger to individuals.
  • GVR determines when to close indoor and outdoor swimming pools and spas as a safety precaution.
    • Both outdoor and indoor pools will be evacuated before or when lightning is within five miles.
    • At the first signs of thunder or lightning occurring within five miles of an aquatic facility, all pool decks will close until 30 minutes after the last observed thunder or lightning.

Service Animals

Reminder: Only trained, working ADA service animals are allowed on GVR property. These animals are specifically trained to perform tasks for individuals with disabilities and must remain under their handler’s control at all times. Handlers are expected to ensure their service animal is well-behaved. Please note that therapy animals, emotional support animals, and pets are not permitted.

Lost Something? We might have it. High-value items like jewelry, wallets, and electronics have been turned in and are waiting to be claimed. Valuables are held at the Box Office for 60 days. Everyday items such as towels and water bottles are held at the center where they were left behind, then donated after two weeks. Hygiene items and supplies are discarded. All donations go to the White Elephant. 

 

GVR Code of Conduct

It is the policy of GVR to treat all people with dignity, respect and equality regardless of age, race, color, ancestry, country of origin, disability, ethnicity, marital status, family status, veteran status, gender, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.

  1. Members, tenants, and guests (hereinafter referred to as users) of GVR facilities are required to comply with GVR published rules and regulations.
  2. Users are required to carry their GVR ID or pass with them at all times and are required to present their card upon request from GVR staff or volunteers.
  3. Users are expected to show common courtesy to employees, directors, volunteers and other members and guests.
  4. Users shall not use loud, profane, indecent or abusive language or make any physical threat, harass or take any other such action against anyone, including staff.
  5. Users shall not consume alcoholic beverages to the point where the behavior becomes offensive or dangerous to themselves or others. This behavior will not be tolerated. Users are expected to leave the premises peacefully and immediately when requested to do so by GVR staff.
  6. Users shall not deface, damage, or remove GVR property.
  7. Members shall not violate or aid in the violation of Board Policies (Corporate Policy Manual) or the Bylaws, including policies associated with guests.
  8. Members will be held responsible for the conduct of their guests.
  9. Users refusing to comply with the Code of Conduct, other policies, and rules of the organization may be asked to leave GVR property. Users asked to leave GVR property are expected to leave peacefully and immediately. For lack of compliance, GVR staff is authorized to contact the Sheriff’s Department to report any person for trespass.
  10. Violation of the above codes of conduct may result in a member having his/her rights and privileges suspended, as well as those of their guests or tenants.

GVR Corporate Policy Manual Section 1.2.4
