Special Board Meeting to Appoint Committee Chairs

Planning & Evaluation – Donna Coon
Board Affairs – Gail Vanderhoof
Nominations & Elections – Denise Nichols
Investments Ad Hoc – Tom Sadowski
Survey Ad Hoc – Co-Chairs Carol Lambert & Sandra Thornton

All members of the 2018/2019 GVR Board of Directors have submitted a signed ‘Code of Conduct’ and ‘Confidentiality Agreement’.

The Board agreed that during the 2018 Governance Year, the Board Affairs Committee will review and offer refinements to both documents, with any recommended revisions subject to approval of the Board of Directors.

Canoa Hills Golf Course Status Update

On April 17, Pima County Board of Supervisors voted four to one to accept the former Canoa Hills Golf Course property. The county will designate the property as part of Pima County Parks System for use as an open park.

County Public Hearing held for GVR Purchase of Land for Pickleball Center & Park

Decision on Conditional Use Permit due Monday, April 16

On Wednesday, April 11, Pima County Development Services and Zoning Department conducted a public hearing to discuss GVR’s request for a Type 1 Conditional Use Permit for the Canoa Pickleball property.

The Pima County Hearing Administrator will render a decision on the application on Monday, April 16.

A presentation was made by CEO Kent J. Blumenthal, along with Kristen DiBone, Project Architect with WSM Architects.

More than 100 GVR and Green Valley Pickleball enthusiasts attended the meeting in support of GVR’s application, of whom, four provided testimony.

Only four local HOA residents closest to the proposed pickleball site testified against the application.

Going into today’s public hearing, Pima County staff recommended approval of GVR’s application for the Conditional Use Permit subject to receipt of a formal Development Plan at the time of permitting and development.
